Golden Nugget is truly the best destination for baccarat players of every level. Once you are ready to start playing for real, table minimums start at just $1.

Experienced players can play High-Limit Squeeze for up to $25k, Golden Nugget’s exclusive RNG title for over $65k, and several live-dealer tables, including VIP and Speed, with maximum bets as high as $10,000 on live games. Plus, all games are jackpot-eligible, so you can opt in for a chance to earn thousands of dollars in multi-level progressive jackpots.

Golden Nugget really goes the extra mile in rewarding players, no matter their experience level. Standard RNG tables are eligible for playthrough requirements, and you earn 1,250 Crowns and one Tier Credit per $50 wagered on baccarat.

It offers a similar suite of games, all of which are jackpot-eligible. You can test out DraftKings’ exclusive table in demo mode before moving over to DraftKings’ live dealer Speed Baccarat or live VIP tables—all for just a $1 minimum bet.

When choosing between Golden Nugget and DraftKings, it really comes down to how much you want to wager and which design aesthetics you prefer, but you can’t go wrong either way.

3. Horseshoe Casino

Before you even sign up, Horseshoe Casino makes it clear that this is a site for baccarat fans, with easy navigation to its selection of table games. Horseshoe Casino combines its own exclusive titles with those at Caesars Palace to create a unique blend of baccarat tables you won’t find anywhere else.

Horseshoe is one of the only casinos where standard tables start at just $0.10, while specialty titles require a $1 minimum bet. You can choose from Horseshoe Signature Baccarat to Caesars Palace First Person to Caesars live-dealer. There’s even an entire live baccarat lobby from Evolution available, with maximum bets hitting $10k.

Every $25 wager earns you one Caesars Reward credit, and Horseshoe periodically runs table-game-eligible leaderboard challenges to grant extra motivated players a little something extra.

4. Hollywood Casino

Hollywood Casino takes exclusive games to the next level, with Lucky Cat Baccarat from Penn National’s in-house Penn Game Studios.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese Maneki-neko “lucky cat” figure (which has, aptly, been reimagined by Baccarat jewelers), the game offers Perfect Pairs side bets and “roads” displays. In the past, Hollywood has even run an invite-only Lucky Cat leaderboard for VIP players.

This title, like all of Hollywood’s baccarat games, starts at a $1 minimum and is eligible for DropZone Jackpots for an added $0.10 per spin. Like at Horseshoe, you can also earn 1 PENN Play Rewards Tier Point for every $25 you spend playing baccarat online.

5. Party Casino

Although it's only available to NJ players, Party Casino has one of the largest baccarat game libraries we came across during our testing. Its 11+ tables include the best of its sister sites, such as BetMGM Gold and live-streamed tables from the Borgata floor in Atlantic City. There are several First Person variations, as well as an NHL table for sports fans.

Party Casino’s strength certainly comes from its game volume, but we found it lacking in some other features we liked at other casinos, namely jackpot eligibility and leaderboards.

That being said, you can earn up to four loyalty points for every $100 you wager.

6. FanDuel Casino

FanDuel has a smaller selection of baccarat tables, but it more than makes up for it with the features we found during our testing.

For starters, the exclusive FanDuel live-dealer game is genuinely one of the more high-quality productions we’ve played at. The live chat and leaderboard work smoothly, with easy navigation back to the rest of the live-game lobby.

If you're learning the game for the first time or just want to brush up, FanDuel's Casino 101 guide has a step-by-step guide to playing baccarat.

FanDuel Casino periodically runs a Table Game Spotlight promotion, which rewards you with a $5 bonus when you play select table games that sometimes include baccarat. It also boasts the best loyalty-point conversion rate for baccarat wagers, with a $1 wager earning you one point.

Sweepstakes Baccarat: Baccarat Sweepstakes Casinos

In states where legal real-money gaming is not yet approved, players can sign up for sweepstakes casinos, where they use virtual currency to bet on baccarat. Play sweepstakes baccarat for free in the US with our top social casino picks:

What is Baccarat?

Despite its association with high rollers, baccarat is one of the simplest games to bet on because the player's only involvement is placing a bet before the cards are dealt. With a house edge as low as 1.06%, choosing your table wisely can make a big difference to how your pot fares.

The goal is to correctly predict which of the two hands (the Player's or the Banker's) will have the point total closest to 9.

Scoring

The game uses of six to eight decks of cards and employs a specific scoring system:

  • Aces: Worth 1 point
  • 2-9: Worth their face value
  • 10, Jack, Queen, and King: Worth 0 points

Any hand total that exceeds 9 drops its first digit.

How to Play

When you join a baccarat table (online or in person), you wager on either your hand or the banker's to get closest to 9. You also have the option to bet on a Tie.

The dealer deals two cards face up to you, the Player, and the banker. If either hand totals 8 or 9 from those two cards, it's ruled a "natural" hand and the round ends.

If not, the banker will deal a third card under specific rules:

  • If player's cards total 2 or 3: Banker hits if cards total 4 or less
  • If player's cards total 5 or less: Player hits
  • If player's cards total 4 or 5: Banker hits if cards total 5 or less
  • If player's cards total 6 or 7: Player stands
  • If banker's cards total 5 or less AND player stands: Banker hits

Then, whichever hand is closest to 9 wins the round.

Types of Baccarat: Bets & their Odds

There are several types of baccarat you're likely to encounter at online baccarat sites, but the average RTP for baccarat is about 98%. This makes it one of the most player-friendly games at an online casino.

Standard (or Midi) Toggle Arrow
BetHouse EdgePayout
Banker1.06%1:1 (5% commision)
Player1.24%-1.36%1:1
Tie1.46%-14.44%8:1 to 9:1

Sometimes simply called baccarat, this is the standard game, usually played with eight decks of cards in a shoe, and with mid-range or very wide betting limits.

Backing the banker has the lowest house edge, but standard games usually charge a 5% commission for making the bet. The next most-favorable wager is betting on your own hand, which has a slightly higher house edge but charges no commission.

Some standard baccarat tables feature a progressive jackpot. Players fight for the jackpot by betting on the "slot" side bet. The amount wagered affects the potential share of the pot, and the payout usually comes when a player's hand contains an ace and an eight.

Speed games eliminate some bets (usually the Tie) to keep rounds under 30 seconds. As you get more comfortable, you can look for VIP games. With larger, more elaborate tables, higher limits, and nearly always played with eight decks in a shoe, this is the best option for experienced players who don't want to be held back.

"Dragon Tiger" is a simplified two-card version where players bet on which side (Dragon or Tiger) will have the higher card.

The Tiger family of side bets centers around Banker wins, with a total of six, commonly found in "Tiger No Commission Baccarat" and similar variants. The house edges and payouts depend on the specific combination of the winning hand.

Most Tiger variants are highly correlated because they target the same underlying event (a Banker 6), so we recommend approaching these variations with caution. Stacking multiple Tiger bets does not diversify risk; instead, it causes the edges to work against the player simultaneously, often resulting in a combined house edge exceeding 10%.

Baccarat Strategies & Systems

While baccarat is fundamentally based on the luck of the draw, using specific betting strategies can help you maximize your bets and mitigate losses. The best way to approach baccarat is to choose the correct bet based on house edge and statistical probability.

Overall, the house edge in baccarat can be quite favorable, starting at around 1.06% when you bet on the banker (or dealer). Betting on your own hand has a slightly higher house edge (ranging between 1.24% and 1.36%), making it another viable option.

We recommend avoiding the Tie bet, since the house edge hovers around 14.4%, even though the payout is higher.

What to Consider When Choosing a Baccarat Site

In land-based casinos, baccarat tables typically attract high rollers. They draw a lot of attention and sometimes require big bets, both elements that can make players table-shy.

This makes trying it out online even more tempting, as you can learn the ropes without an audience. Once you have the hang of it, it can become a lifelong favorite.

The live baccarat tables you'll find online come from leading casino game studios.

While strategy and game variations should be a serious gambler's main consideration when choosing a baccarat site, finding a table that makes an enjoyable experience should also factor into the process. When looking for a stand-out baccarat site online, consider the factors below:

Why Play Baccarat Online?

Baccarat's simple format works well in the electronic world of quick deals, history registers, and other tools to help you develop and monitor a successful system. Online games give you the chance to play baccarat quickly and easily, and you can do so while you're doing other things.

A big part of the joy of baccarat comes from the high-rolling feel of the tables, and that's where the live dealer comes in. A live baccarat site will give you the elegance and personal touch of casino baccarat without the traveling, dress codes, and pricey drinks.

Live dealers are delivered via streaming video, transmitted in real time. They allow you the personal interaction of playing at a casino without the inconvenience of traveling to one.
